3 Dads and a Lad has been performing classic barbershop tunes, 50s and 60s doo wop and patriotic anthems for local audiences since 2001.

In addition to performing at private parties, birthday celebrations, retirement community events and more, 3 Dads and a Lad have also been honored to perform for fans of the Lancaster Barnstormers. Their first performance for Barnstormers' fans came on opening night when they performed at the side gate for fans entering the ballpark. 3 Dads and a Lad was also on hand during last year's championship series to perform the National Anthem to open the final game of the series in style.

Over the years, 3 Dads and the Lad have become a close knit group who share their passion for barbershop harmony. We invite you to meet the guys and find out more about this talented and spirited quartet that has enchanted audiences of all ages.

Tom Malesic

LEAD

Tom, 3 Dads and a Lad's lead, is also the "lad" of the group, serving in his first barbershop quartet since discovering barbershop music in early 2000. Tom grew up in Lancaster County and attended Penn State University where he played the trumpet in Penn State's Marching Blue Band.

Though he's very busy these days running EZSolution, his successful web development and computer networking company and spending time with his wife and young son, Tom still finds time to feed his barbershop addiction. In fact the quartet often practices at Tom's home, where he's set up a very inviting music room!

Married for 45 years to the former Kathleen E. Pennypacker, Bud has 3 children (2 girls and a boy) and six grandchildren (3 girls and 3 boys). Dwight Hershberger

BARITONE

Dwight, 3 Dads and a Lad's baritone, grew up on a farm near Kansas City, MO and started barbershopping in 1994. Through the years, Dwight's love of barbershop music has led him to a number of quartets and choirs including the Gopher Baroque Quartet in Lancaster, the Hesston College acapella quartet, and the Hesston College acapella choir as well as two church quartets.

A man of many talents, Dwight spent his career as a computer programmer and analyst for Western Electric, Bell Telephone (Verizon) and Philhaven. What is most interesting about Dwight, however, is his stint as a bush pilot for the Africa Inland Mission (AIM-AIR) that fueled his passion for flying. Now retired, Dwight splits his time between his love for barbershop music, golf and flying and also serves as a part-time car jockey.

Married to his wife, Edna, for 45 years, with 3 children (all married), and 5 grandchildren.
